In my Motion Graphics Studio course, our final assignment was to create a motion graphics short based on an audio clip. I chose to make a lyric video for "See You Again" by Tyler, the Creator featuring Kali Uchis. For this project, we had creative control over everything.
I began by creating a production timeline for myself to make sure that I would finish the project on time. In this, I designated time for me to complete each stage in the animation pipeline. First, I created a mood board to better identify the style of animation and visuals I wanted to achieve. With that in mind, I then created a storyboard so that I could break down my project into various scenes and determine the assets I needed to create and/or collect. Through the process, some scenes were either edited or cut, but a majority of my project followed the original sketches I created.
From there, I began working in After Effects, building out, animating, and exporting each scene. This process took me about a week, given that some scenes required hand-animation while others were done entirely in the program. With each scene complete, I used Premiere Pro for post-production work, such as sequencing, color-correcting, and the final export. The final version of my project along with my production materials are below
